A Christmas
Bird Count (CBC) has been performed in the Wolfville area for over 80
years. For more details read the history article referred below. The
present Wolfville count circle (shown in the map here) is centred on
Highway #1 in Greenwich and has a radius of 7-1/2 miles. The circle is
sub-divided into 24 areas, each of which is covered by one or more
canvasers on the 'count-day' for that year. The count occurs in
December of each year near the 25th.
The CBC participants record the species and their numbers seen that day. They also keep track of the time and distance travelled during the count actiivities. All of these statistics are collected by the count-day director and collated for submitting to Bird Studies Canada.
