Fleet Finch - Peter Handley/Vintage Aircraft of Canada
Stanley’s Annual Fly-in is the longest standing and largest of its kind in Canada. Several aircraft from across Canada and the eastern United States enjoy our fly-in. All registered aircraft get judged for several categories, such as best homebuilt, best antique, best production model, etc. On Saturday evening, we hold an auction which is a great fundraiser for Stanley Sport Aviation Association. All items are kindly donated by our membership, friends, guests and sponsors.
This year, to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP), Vintage Wings of Canada has scheduled a cross-country flight this summer using four of their yellow aircraft (Harvard, Corneill, Tigermoth, Finch) and others that may join them on the trip. Their last Eastern stop will be in Stanley. This is a chance of a lifetime to see this series of vintage aircraft.

The program will include a safety seminar given by internationally known expert Mike Doiron and a visit to the museum. A nice day for an outdoor EAA meeting
We met at the Wolfville home of Christoph Both to view his Europa which has been painted and is closer to completion. The July 2010 issue of “Kitplanes” has an article on this type of aircraft. Nine members attended for the viewing, discussions and refreshments on a very nice sunny day.

Larry Bogan talked about the sport of Soaring as it applies to our area, including the history, clubs involved, and equipment as well as the conditions for soaring on thermals, ridge lift and wave lift.

Additional discussions were on new aircraft projects, outreach to attract new members, possible Young Eagles activity later this year and how to use the eaa1051.org website for displaying members projects, etc.
