Today &#8216;s observatories are mostly for observing pleasure<br \/>\npunctuated with some photography and even original research. But<br \/>\nBBGO (you&#8217;ll have to wait to discover what that means!),<br \/>\nobservatories supported surveying and mapping, navigational<br \/>\nrequirements and some institutions&#8217; teaching of how the celestial<br \/>\nfirmament supported their religious values. Some observatories were<br \/>\neven internationally significant. Learn where these were, who<br \/>\noperated them and the stories about their purpose.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<br \/>\nNOTE: Bring a flashlight to the meeting!<br \/>\nUse the parking lot at #475, and if that is full, park at my home<br \/>\nnext door (#465), not along the Bluff Road. If you do park next door,<br \/>\na path to the meeting begins beside my garage.
