Did you know birds are the gatekeepers of the forest (and other habitats)? Do you ever wonder why you rarely see larger mammals when you go out for a walk and yet in winter you see their tracks in abundance? How is it you can rarely catch a glimpse? The answer lies with the birds, they tip off the other animals. Fortunately, like all languages, theirs can be learned and that can help you tune into the landscape, honing your listening and observation skills.
In this evening outing we’ll explore the basic principles of bird language. Since we’re meeting on a school night I suggest folks bring a picnic and tuck in during a bird language skit before we move into other fun activities.
