Have you caught the buzz about Citizen Science?
The Blomidon Naturalists are hosting a second Citizen Science Expo! Citizen scientists are dark sky mappers, supernova hunters, butterfly chasers, Chimney Swift counters, bird-feeder watchers, milkweed planters, bat reporters, water-quality monitors, phenology trackers, GPS mappers, big-data crunchers and DIY nature nerds. There are now hundreds of ways the average Maritimer can easily contribute to exciting and important scientific research while on a computer, in a workshop or in the field. So how do you know what projects you or your family could get involved in and who (or what) could benefit most from your passion, time and observations? Join us at our second, Citizen Science Expo for displays and presentations by organizations leading citizen science projects. This year we are also hoping to add some “hands-on” workshops to provide training and skill building. This is a great opportunity for individuals of all ages to find a niche for their passions, and for organizations to promote their projects and recruit volunteers.
Location in Wolfville, time TBA, look for an update soon!
