7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
A nighttime field trip! Come join Chris Young and Paul Heath from the Royal Astronomical Society as they guide you around the winter sky. They will enlighted us to the constellations and other celestial bodies that can be viewed from our region in January. Mars and Venus will also be in attendance.
We will meet inside the gates of York Redoubt. Please park along the left side of the parking lot, so that you aren’t blocking the road.
To register for this event, send an email to Karen at ynchalifax at yncns dot ca. For this event, dress super, super warmly. Challenge yourself to find your warmest outdoor winter outfit ever! Although night sky winter in winter is beautiful and fascinating, it is really easy to get quite cold, quickly, at this event. Bring a headlamp or flashlight, ideally covered with red cellophane or tissue paper (or on a red light setting, which some headlights have). Also bring binoculars if you have them.
