10:00 am - 12:00 pm
We will be starting our Nature Journals on Saturday the 19th 10-12 at the Black Rock Community Centre and Trails (NOTE: there are 2 community centres on the West Blackrock Rd.; we will be at the one with the trails which is the one closest to the bay). Go to the Berwick site and click on the trails link for details. http://www.town.berwick.ns.ca/hiking-trails.html.
Dr. John Brazner (wetland specialist for the NS Department of the Environment) uses field notes in his work and he will talk to us about how they help him. I have books for the Young Naturalists and we will be learning some strategies for keeping a journal and how Nature Journals can be useful to science. Come take a walk with us in the Black Rock trails too and we will record the interesting things we find. We may find feathers, tracks, scat, mushrooms and for sure we will see the beautiful leaves! Also NOTE that we should be wearing HUNTER ORANGE. Bring along water and a snack if you like and dress for the weather.
See you then, Marina
