Listening to the Earth about Climate Change

Date/Time

Sunday, November 24, 2013
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Description

How well can you listen? The earth is talking to us about change. When we listen we can see the evidence of climate change all around us – past, present and future.

On Sunday afternoon at Point Pleasant Park geologist Howard Donohue will show us how geologists listen to the earth and interpret what it is saying. We will talk about sea level rise, climate warming, and the dramatic change in the amount of water around Halifax. You will stand on top of rocks that were originally on the sea bottom. Then we’ll look at the work of glaciers nearly 2km thick that covered Halifax.

Join us at 1:15pm at the Black Rock Beach parking lot (aka the lower parking lot). Wear comfortable shoes and dress warmly. The length of the walk is about 1.5 hours.
