Date/TimeSaturday, October 14, 2017 - Sunday, October 15, 2017
6:00 pm - 12:00 am
The Young Naturalists Club will be participating in Nocturne this year. For those of you don’t know, Nocturne: Art at Night, is a fall festival that brings art and energy to the streets of Halifax between 6 p.m.-midnight. https://nocturnehalifax.ca
Our Activity (Paper Leaf Lanterns) will be held at the Museum of Natural History Project Room. With the theme of Nocturne being Vanish, we want the public to think about the natural landscape that existed before the city was built and what has vanished. In this spirit the idea, we will have people make Paper Bag Lanterns with leaf prints on them (leaves of native trees and plants that may have been the peninsula before settlement). The result will people walking around the city lighting up those leaves….bringing the species and the forest back from being vanished that one night.
We are looking for volunteers to help the public make these leaf lanterns that evening…probably shifts of an hour or two if you want to help. Please contact Robin at email@example.com if you are interested in helping out either beforehand or during the event! And please come by and make a lantern if you are going to Nocturne!
