1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Want to search for the world’s fastest flower? How about checking out a live specimen of our provincial tree? Join me on Saturday, May 23, at 1pm to learn about the fantastic flowers of Frog Pond. This is a great time of year to learn about spring wildflowers, and the Frog Pond is a great location to learn them because you can go back to visit them year after year. There’s a wondeful diversity of flowering plants at this site!
We’ll meet in the Frog Pond Trail parking lot, off of Purcells Cove Road. The parking lot is about 2.8km from the Armdale Roundabout (at the roundabout, take the exit for Herring Cove Road, then turn left onto Purcells Cove Road). Bring a wildflower field guide and hand lens (if you have one), and a little notepad or nature journal to do quick sketches. Dress for the weather (it might be chilly, and we won’t be moving fast), and maybe even bring bug stuff (or whatever your solution to black flies is).
As always, please register with me by sending a quick email to ynchalifax at yahoo.ca.
